Last week, Solange tweeted “86 of you will receive a seat at the table in the mail. First come, first served.” Accompanying the cryptic message was a link to a new site titled SolangeMusic.com. Context clues led everyone to believe what we now know to be true. ‘A Seat at the Table’ is a forthcoming album. Solange describes the body of work as “a project on identity, empowerment, independence, grief and healing.”
Solange is art personified. From the countless, memorable looks to her aesthetically pleasing Instagram and Snapchat (NappyAndSnappy). It is no secret that her one-of-a-kind artistic expression is simply incomparable. Solange never ceases to amaze her fans, and nothing less is expected upon hearing the new album. With a digital booklet and track titles like Don’t Touch My Hair, F.U.B.U. and Borderline (An Ode To Self Care), it is easy to see ‘A Seat at the Table’ will be an album to add to the list of classics.
‘A Seat at the Table’ has features from Lil Wayne, Devonte Hynes, BJ the Chicago Kid, Tweet, Kelly Rowland, Kelela and many more. Although there is no official word on where the album can be bought, it is safe to assume it will at least be streamed on Tidal. Solange tweets that she is “overwhelmed with gratitude & excitement to share this work [she’s] written and created” with us. Fans won’t have to wait much longer, as the September 30th release date is approaching quickly. In the meantime, check out the full tracklist, promo visuals below, and head over to SolangeMusic.com for more “vibes.”
