It’s no secret that Russell Westbrook is one of the most fashion-forward players in the NBA. He’s taken his passion one step further and added a “curated collection” to his resume. This week, Westbrook released an eccentric collaboration with Barney’s. The line has an athletic flare with most of the pieces being Jordan. There are also unique jeans from Naked & Famous as well as sleek shoes from Del Toro. Bags, wallets, baseball caps and glasses are also available. Right now only 24 of the 40 items can be purchased, the other 16 can be preordered.
Westbrook is known to wear bright colors and prints wherever he goes and this line is a reflection of that. A multicolored elephant print is seen throughout the collection, and are some of the most memorable pieces. In contrast, these garments are black, navy and grey pieces that make up the rest of the product offerings.
According to The Associated Press, Westbrook isn’t one to splurge on his own clothing, he agreed to sell his line at Barney’s because “there’s no better place than Barneys” and “… If it’s in Barney’s … it’s got to be higher than your normal (price).” And expensive it is, shoes are going for $400-$440, hats for $65, and the Dri-Fit basketball shorts ring in at $215. This may be normal for the average Barney’s consumer, but I’m guessing his Oklahoma based fans probably aren’t too thrilled.
