National Women In Agriculture Association, NWIAA, is calling upon all agriculture lovers and those that are passionate about servicing at-risk-youth to assist with sponsorship! The NWIAA will embark on several trips in the month of January to the White House to ask Congress for their consideration on the 2018 Farm Bill. The ladies of NWIAA desperately seeking your assistance to sponsor their trips to the White House as well as with their various community initiatives that they partake in.
For the past 10 years, the non-profit agriculture organization, NWIAA, has made innovative strides in bridging the gap between minorities and impoverished youth to the field of agriculture. It has assisted in reducing food desert poverty issues in its chapter states as well as teaching and assisting youth in agriculture education. This phenomenal organization has been providing vital opportunities that have assisted minorities and at-risk-youth in the field of agriculture since 2008. Starting in January, NWIAA will embark on several trips to the White House to present their prodigious pilot program, which is similar to the agriculture organizations of 4-H & FFA. During their several trips to the White House, NWIAA will ask Congress to consider them in funding from the 2018 Farm Bill to assist them with their pilot program. Currently, the NWIAA has chapters in Oklahoma, Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Mississippi, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Kansas, Missouri, and will have another chapter launching in Hawaii in 2018. The funding from the 2018 Farm Bill will allow NWIAA’s pilot program to have a deeper concentration within their current reach as well as giving them the opportunity to open chapters in more states.
“Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.” This is a quote that still reigns true when you are passionate about being a vessel in serving underdeveloped and underserviced communities. The funding from the 2018 Farm Bill will assist NWIAA in not only reducing food deserts, but their involvement in the communities that they are serving will assist in reducing the high school dropout rate, increase college enrollment, reducing the incarceration rate, and reducing health-related illnesses. This all stems from NWIAA’s involvement in serving at-risk-youth and the communities that they live in by associating them with sustainable agriculture methods where they receive proper food education as well as learning how to grow an array crops for profit. When people are determined to end poverty, hunger, and uplifting at-risk-youth they don’t have to look any further than their own backyard since these are just a few of the many problems that underserviced communities are presented with. Just in one-year NWIAA served and fed over 58,000 people! By presenting their tremendous pilot program to Congress, if NWIAA receives the funding from the 2018 Farm Bill, they have the ability to triple the number of people that are serviced and fed during the upcoming year.
