Bentonite clay is a sedimentary clay composed of weathered and aged volcanic ash. Depending on where the bentonite clay was formed it may contain a plethora of minerals such as quartz, feldspar, calcite, and gypsum. Bentonite clay has a negative ionic charge that will assist in detoxifying your hair, skin, and body. It attracts substances that have a positive charge such as toxins, harmful bacteria, pesticides, heavy metals, and pathogens. When using your clay be sure to use a non-metal spoon and bowl when mixing your ingredients.

I’m sure you’ve been seeing many variations of bentonite clay hair mask treatments and have probably wondered what the big craze was about. It has been about 6-months since I began adding bentonite clay hair masks to my hair regimen. This has been the best condition my hair has ever been in and the treatment is highly recommended to those wanting to improve the overall health of their hair. Bentonite clay is highly beneficial for the hair. It’s great for cleansing, clarifying, and nourishing the tresses. The clay will absorb any harmful ingredients, impurities, and dirt from the hair without making it feel dry. Most of the time when you shampoo your hair you strip the natural oils out of your strands, especially if you use shampoo with sulfates. Hair becomes dull, dry, and lifeless. Performing a weekly or bi-monthly bentonite clay hair mask will assist in improving your natural hair’s texture, luster, manageability, and softness, as well as stimulating hair growth. When adding the bentonite clay hair mask to your scalp it will assist in removing toxins as well as getting rid of dandruff, infections, parasites, and chemical buildup.

When creating my bentonite clay mask, I like to keep the process simple by adding only a few ingredients, whole-leaf aloe, and apple cider vinegar. Aloe vera promotes hair growth, prevents dandruff, breakage and is great for keeping the hair moisturized and soft. Apple cider vinegar is great for balancing the hair’s PH, works as an excellent detangler, encourages hair growth by removing buildup, and seals the hair’s cuticles leaving your tresses soft and shiny. Although I only add these two ingredients, don’t be afraid to experiment with other natural ingredients. Green tea, rosewater, essential oils, and coconut oil are great additives that are beneficial to the hair
For this treatment, I used the following ingredients:

Ohhhh, I got to try this. My hair doesn’t really hold moisture well so maybe this will give it a boost! Thanks for sharing Coco!
