Papaya is not only a delicious fruit that was once called the “fruit of the angels” by Christopher Columbus, but it’s also a superb source for antioxidants, vitamins A, B & C, potassium, copper, magnesium and fiber. Combined, these nutrients are a super power.
For those of you who are seeking hydrated and glowing skin, papayas should to be a regular consumption of your diet. The vitamin C assists in producing collagen and rapid cell turn over, which will result in tight and firm skin. The vitamin A that is found in the papaya not only keeps your skin hydrated, but it ensures that your tresses stays strong and moisturized. Papayas promotes the best health of the cardiovascular system and provides protection against colon cancer. The fiber in the fruit is able to bind cancer-causing toxins in the colon by keeping them away from the healthy colon cells. Eating papayas would also reduce your risk of heart disease, diabetes, cancer and will be aiding in digestion and lowering your blood pressure. The flesh of this super fruit contains papain, which is an enzyme that assists with the digestion of proteins. The papain in the papaya is used like bromelain, which is used to treat sport injuries, trauma and allergies. The powerful antioxidants found in the fruit helps with reducing inflammation and improves healing from burns and cuts. Zeaxanthin, a potent antioxidant that’s found in papaya, filters out damaging blue-rays and plays an important role in ensuring you maintain your best eye health.
You can find papayas at most grocery stores all year round, but they are at their most plentiful during the summer and fall seasons. If you’re unsure on how to eat them try adding papayas to a fruit salad or blend it up to make a wonderful & super healthy smoothie.
